Item Attributes are similar to custom fields but can be applied to individual items. For example, if a material has a certain grade, you can set up an attribute dropdown to list those grades and apply this to one or more items, and the dropdown only appears for those items. Item custom fields should be used when the field makes sense for all items.
1. To set up the Attribute, click here.
2. Click "Custom Fields"
3. Click "Item Attribute Fields"
4. Click "New Attribute Field"
5. Click the type field
6. In this example, we are going to create a Dropdown
7. Give the attribute a name - this will be used in the PDF document variable
8. The label is displayed on the screens
9. Enter the dropdown values and click on the tick
10. To add it to an item, click "Go To"
11. Click "Items"
12. Edit an item
13. Click "Add/Remove Attributes"
14. Click "Add"
15. Click "×"
16. You can select the default value here or leave it blank
17. Open a quotation or other document and add that item in. It is displayed as below
18. Click the attribute to edit
19. Select the desired option
20. Tick to save the change
21. To add it to the document template, click here
22. Click "Document Templates"

24. Click "Search Variables"
25. Type "Attribute" in the search to list the variables. Note that the attribute name is put between "{ItemAttribute" and the display type (i.e. Value, Label).
26. Click "Close Tags List"
27. Add the variables to the document
28. Click "Step 1: Preview"
29. Note how it appears only for the item with that attribute and not for the other. Click "Save"
